Boosting consideration for an established category
KEEN is known for functional footwear that holds up on trails, beaches and city streets. The brand has built loyalty with its adult audience, but needed to increase awareness and demand for kids shoes with the parents in that demographic. Product wasn’t the issue; KEEN already makes the safe, durable footwear active kids need.
The real opportunity was to position that product for modern parents who are serious about quality, have a strong personal sense of style and want their kids' gear to reflect both. The brand tapped Monday for campaign production and evergreen assets to reach that audience on every channel.
The campaign way in: moving with kids
Monday conceptualized and produced a photo shoot to showcase KEEN’s trusted performance and unique, functional styles.
Kids know who they are long before the world tells them who to be. Our campaign concept celebrates their self-possession as they take up space in their own unique ways, positioning KEEN as the footwear that moves with them along the way.
Our art direction puts the viewer into a kid’s perspective, shooting from their height and keeping raw realities like grass stains and chalk dust in frame. We outlined a shot list blending portraits, dynamic movement and hero product to give the KEEN team creative freedom. These campaign assets would need omnichannel flexibility across DTC, social, wholesale and PR, and seasonal relevance everywhere from spring break to back-to-school.
Building an evergreen asset bank
Monday managed the full production scope: photographer and stylist selection, casting, location scouting and shoot logistics. Our cast of kids was styled in comfortable silhouettes with personalized touches to elevate the looks. And of course, they wore a range of KEEN shoes—including the kids’ Newport, Jasper and Targhee styles that are already iconic for adults. The approach made the imagery feel genuinely aspirational rather than stock-photo generic.
The shoot ran across two days in three distinct locations for forest, beach, city and playground environments. With those evergreen assets in hand, KEEN had a versatile asset library ready for its May launch and every season that follows.
